Thomas Malaby
Biography
Thomas Malaby is associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He has published numerous works on virtual worlds, games, practice theory, and risk. His principal research interest is in the relationships among modernity, unpredictability, and technology, particularly as they are realized through games and game-like processes. He is currently writing Making Virtual Worlds: Linden Lab and Second Life (forthcoming, Cornell University Press), an ethnography of Linden Lab and its relationship to its creation, Second Life. He is also a featured author at the blog Terra Nova.
