BIOGRAPHY Javier Elizondo is director of JUMP Into Reading for Meaning, a Star Schools grant held by Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), a nonprofit corporation in Honolulu, Hawaii. Prior to working with JUMP, he was responsible for the quality assurance of NEARStar, a game-based online ESL and Reading Program. NEARStar was then licensed to Scholastic as Zip Zoom English, with Javier managing the transition. Prior to joining PREL, Javier served as the director of Pacific Learning Services, an instructional design company providing multimedia educational services to a range of governments and institutions including PREL, the World Health Organization, the Asian Development Bank, the International Labour Organization, the Republic of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and American Samoa. In the late 1990s, his work as Multimedia Coordinator for the Center for the Application of Information Technologies at Western Illinois University helped to launch their distance learning initiative. Javier has an M.A. in Public Communication and Broadcasting from Western Illinois University and a B.A. in Communication from the Technological Institute of Monterrey, Mexico.
